Specialists from the Research Institute of Hygiene of Rospotrebnadzor (FBUN "Novosibirsk Research Institute of Hygiene") will implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in sports facilities to analyze the biomechanics of human movement during walking. This method will be used to assess disorders in athletes during intense training, said Irina Novikova, director of the Research Institute, at the "Technoprom" forum.

We are monitoring the motor changes that a person has, how significant they can be for us in terms of understanding the effectiveness of therapy.

The development will also help predict neurological abnormalities in athletes, Novikova added.

The subject needs to walk in front of the camera several times. The video is transmitted to a computer, and the neural network processes it.

The AI incorporates a model with 25 key points of the human body, which are related to anatomical features. Then the neural network determines the coordinates of body parts during walking and compares them with the captured video.

The key feature of the Novosibirsk specialists' development is its accessibility and non-contact nature. No expensive equipment is required for diagnosis.
