Humanity will create permanent infrastructure on the Moon in the future, and then begin to explore Mars, with the first such missions potentially witnessed by the current generation. This was stated by the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov.

Colonies will be one hundred percent. First on the Moon, then on Mars.
According to Bakanov, the current generation may still see the first missions in which not just a separate crew will appear on the Moon, but a certain infrastructure for the long-term presence of people. He also did not rule out the appearance of similar objects on other celestial bodies.
Currently, Russian and foreign telescopes continue to explore deep space and search for celestial bodies that may be of interest for future space missions.
Bakanov also noted that modern technologies do not yet allow for the full implementation of such projects. At the same time, he considers the transition to a permanent human presence beyond Earth to be a matter of time.
