Specialists from Kuban State Medical University (KubSMU) have developed the first method in the country for restoring nerve tissues using biosynthetic materials. This was announced by the rector of the university, Professor Sergey Alekseenko.

According to the professor, there are currently no registered domestic implants in Russia for eliminating extensive nerve damage. The biosynthetic materials developed by Kuban scientists are "populated with nerve tissue cells," he explained.
The discovery was made in the KubSMU laboratory, where young scientists and university graduates are engaged in fundamental research in the field of regenerative medicine. A bioreactor has been created here for conducting tissue regeneration research.
Unique samples of biological frameworks for organs and tissues have been obtained on animal models.
Specialists have also achieved success in creating "artificial skin" for treating burns or extensive injuries. All research protocols conducted in the laboratory are patented (to protect rights to unique technologies). There are no analogues in the world to the methods used at KubSMU, Alekseenko concluded.
