The Russian company Rusal increased aluminum production by 4.5% to 2.01 million tons in the first 6 months of 2026, compared to the same period last year.

From January to June 2026, bauxite production (sedimentary rock, a source of aluminum and gallium) increased by 13% to 10.905 million tons, and alumina (aluminum oxide, a white refractory substance) by 7.6% to 3.658 million tons. At the same time, aluminum sales for the specified period fell by 10% to 2.06 million tons year-on-year.

Revenue for the first 6 months of the current year increased by 10.9% to $8,338 million. In 2025, for the same period, revenue was only $7,520 million. This is explained by a 23.6% increase in the weighted average selling price of aluminum.

According to data from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, China remains the absolute leader in aluminum production. During the reporting period, the volume of production of this metal in the Celestial Empire increased by 2.4% to 22.37 million tons compared to the same period in 2025.

Rusal is the only producer of primary aluminum in Russia. Raw materials are extracted in Komi and Sverdlovsk Oblast. In the global ranking, the company is in third place for aluminum production, second only to China Hongqiao Group and Chalco.
