A preheating and drying unit for pipes for anti-corrosion protection has been launched in Chelyabinsk. The equipment accelerated the line to 500 square meters per hour and made it possible to process seamless products, according to the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK).

The unit operates in pipe electric welding shop No. 6. It removes moisture and heats the surface from 30 to 90 degrees Celsius depending on the diameter. The design reduces heat loss, which reduces gas consumption. If earlier the protective layer was applied only to welded pipes with a diameter of up to 1220 mm, now seamless products from 114 mm have been included in the assortment.

Pipes with anti-corrosion coating are used for main pipelines, where rust is the main enemy. The transition to seamless blanks opens up TMK's access to orders that previously required line reconfigurations. Modernization not only unloads the welding section but also allows faster transfer of orders between sites in Chelyabinsk.
