American streaming service Netflix has registered a combined trademark with its logo and name in Russia, TASS reports.

The application to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) was filed in April of this year from the USA. According to the agency's database, the mark is registered under six classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services: stationery, accessories, tableware, clothing, toys, as well as educational and entertainment services.

Recall that in 2022, Netflix announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. At the same time, as the head of Rospatent, Yury Zubov, previously stated, well-known foreign brands strive to ensure both the registration and extension of their trademarks in Russia. According to him, the mark is registered to protect against counterfeiting — so that no one sells goods under the guise of the copyright holder's products. The copyright holder himself is interested in maintaining the brand's reputation, even if the market is temporarily unavailable to him.
