The Russian energy system is aging: imported gas turbines will approach their maximum service life almost simultaneously. This was announced by Alexander Podkolzin, CEO of "Silovye Mashiny".

According to his calculations, there are about a hundred such turbines installed in the country — approximately 50–60 analogues of GTE-65 and another 40–50 machines of the GTE-170 class.

Almost all machines were put into operation at approximately the same time. The key problem is that they will all reach their maximum service life — 200 thousand specific hours of operation — almost simultaneously.

The head of "Silovye Mashiny" proposes, together with the Ministry of Energy and generating companies, to conduct an inventory of the resources of all machines and develop a modernization program distributed over the years.

Alexandra Panina, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the "Energy Producers Council" association, clarified that Russia has one of the oldest energy systems in the world. The average age of thermal generation in the country is 39 years, compared to 20 worldwide.
