Perm engine builders have begun training a new generation of specialists using a scheme that combines university education with work directly in the design bureau. "ODK-STAR" and Perm Polytechnic have completed the sixth enrollment of participants in the educational track.

This year, 15 students will be employed at the enterprise. Another 15 targeted agreements were concluded with students of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of PNIPU. This approach should provide future engineers not only theoretical knowledge but also an understanding of the full cycle of creating an aircraft engine.
University classes will be supplemented by weekly work in the "ODK-STAR" design bureau. Already in their first year of study, students will acquire a working profession and will be able to get acquainted with production processes from the inside.
For Russian engine building, such training is especially important against the backdrop of the development of new aircraft power plants. Perm enterprises are involved in the creation and production of PD family engines, including the PD-14 for the MC-21. The PD-8 is intended for Russian SJ-100 passenger aircraft and other promising platforms.
Moscow's "ODK-Salyut" previously organized production practice for 1500 students from Moscow colleges. They worked on CNC machines and other industrial equipment.
