The new two-seat modification of the Su-57D fighter received an additional seat — probably not for cadets, but for performing tasks using drones. However, German analyst Cedric Kinhofer from Focus saw a serious risk in this decision.

According to him, the Su-57D is more similar to earlier Soviet two-seat aircraft, such as the Su-27UB. The rear cockpit is noticeably higher than the front, and the glazing is extended. This, according to Kinhofer, creates the problem.
This can also have disadvantages: a higher rear seat can worsen radar visibility and make the aircraft easier to detect.
For a fifth-generation fighter, stealth is one of the key parameters, Kinhofer is sure. If the rear seat makes the aircraft more visible to radars, it could negate the entire concept.
