The Ministry of Industry and Trade has adjusted its plans for the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into domestic computer-aided design (CAD) systems for microelectronics. The launch of research and development work has been moved from 2030 to 2029, CNews reports.
This refers to three separate R&D projects covering key design areas: "CAD Tsifra-Pro" for digital circuits, "CAD Analog-Pro" for analog devices, and "CAD SVCh-Pro" for microwave components.
The MNCT MIET (one of the curators of the CAD roadmap) explained the earlier deadline by the rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as the completion of a number of preparatory works, including projects of the Foundation for Advanced Studies. According to a representative of the center, the introduction of AI is primarily aimed at improving the technical characteristics of the developed tools and routes in general.
The development of intelligent CAD is part of a large-scale program to create domestic electronics design systems. The total cost of R&D for the creation of Russian CAD until 2030 is estimated at 54.6 billion rubles. The ultimate goal is to ensure that by 2030, domestic CAD tools are used in more than 90% of design centers working for Russian industries.
