The Nizhny Novgorod shipyard "Krasnoye Sormovo" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) will potentially be able to produce up to 20 cargo vessels per year after the completion of modernization. This was announced by the USC press service.

The large-scale modernization program began at the enterprise in the second quarter of 2025. The first stage will be completed in 2028, with investments totaling approximately 7.5 billion rubles.

The funds will be directed towards major repairs of infrastructure, construction of piers, painting chambers, procurement of a floating crane, and organization of laser cutting lines. "Krasnoye Sormovo" shipyard also plans to implement digital production.

Currently, the enterprise is participating in the construction of a large series of "river-sea" class cargo vessels. These are RSD59 project dry cargo ships. At the end of July, Nizhny Novgorod shipbuilders launched another vessel of this project. Then, the "Krasnoye Sormovo" shipyard will begin assembling vessels based on the unified "Platform No. 1".
