India has begun developing a remotely controlled unmanned tank based on the Soviet T-72 as part of the ADITI 4.0 initiative. This was reported by The Economic Times.

According to the source, the robotic vehicles will be equipped with digital systems for remote control and communication via an IP interface.
Journalists clarified that the program was launched specifically to attract Indian startups and small enterprises, without foreign participation. Consequently, the participation of the tank developers in the project is not foreseen.
Remotely controlled tanks will be used for overcoming minefields, reconnaissance, and offensive operations.
India's tank fleet numbers up to 2,400 vehicles. A significant portion of the equipment requires deep modernization to extend its service life until 2040, but the republic is not counting on Russia's help for this.
