Russia, Europe, and the USA are entering a new race to create supersonic aircraft. However, only a in-demand solution will ensure victory, explained Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal.
In his opinion, the main task of engineers, including Russian ones, is to develop an aircraft that will justify the costs of its creation.
We are observing a situation in which the three largest global aircraft manufacturing centers: Russia, Europe, and the USA are being drawn into a new race for supersonic flight. And the winner in this race will not be the one who builds a prototype faster and gets it into the sky.
Gusarov added that supersonic airliners have not become widespread in the civilian sector, despite successful use in military aviation.
Andrey Popov, chief specialist of GosNIIAS for unmanned aircraft systems, stated that the Russian supersonic passenger aircraft was approved without traditional frontal glazing. Honored Pilot of the USSR Oleg Smirnov criticized this idea.
