Russian shipbuilders are ready to participate in the construction of vessels for the Amazon at the request of Brazil. This was stated by Kirill Toropov, Deputy Head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) for civil shipbuilding.
According to him, OSK has already presented its capabilities in the Brazilian market.
Among our key competencies are mixed "river-sea" navigation vessels, as well as high-speed, transport, and passenger vessels that may be in demand on the Amazon.
It is advisable to build some vessels at shipyards in Brazil with "engineering and technological participation of OSK". This refers to the design and supply of individual components, Toropov explained.
The construction of small vessels at Russian enterprises and their subsequent shipment to Brazil would be economically unprofitable, he concluded.
One of the most mass-produced series in the "river-sea" class are RSD59 project dry cargo ships. The authorities plan to subsidize the construction of civil vessels. The demand for them is about 1300 units.
