When allocating subsidies for shipbuilding, large-scale serial projects will be prioritized. This was stated by Albert Karimov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The prioritization of projects when allocating subsidies will be carried out taking into account the unification of technical solutions and the serial nature of the construction of the vessels under consideration.
According to him, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is working closely with industry enterprises on this issue. The authorities are developing a register of typical ship projects with ready-made technical solutions, Kerimov emphasized.
Now it is necessary to solve the problems of updating the aging fleet; an important direction for us is to support the construction of cargo ships.
In July 2026, the ministry estimated Russia's need for passenger and cargo ships at 1,300 units. In particular, vessels are needed to ensure safe navigation along the Northern Sea Route, a fishing fleet, ice-class vessels, refrigerators, and bulk carriers. At the same time, the volume of orders for repair and modernization of vessels built before 1991 is increasing at Russian shipyards.
