A new plotter for processing solid materials – rubber, acrylic, foam, and corrugated cardboard – has been installed in the assembly shop of PAO "Kirovsky Zavod "Mayak"" (Kalashnikov Concern). The use of a plotter is a new direction for the plant. The assembly production is gradually moving away from laser cutting as it is less effective for dense raw materials.
Laser cutting is based on thermal exposure to the material. With it, the edges of the material require additional processing, which reduces productivity. The plotter, in turn, processes raw materials mechanically with high-precision knives, which increases cutting accuracy. And the absence of thermal exposure will improve working conditions for employees: there are no fumes from laser cutting, explained the Kalashnikov Concern.
The plotter easily handles rubber, corrugated cardboard, acrylic, and foam; you just need to select the cutting modes and the appropriate tool. After commissioning, the plotter will enter serial production of parts. Its productivity will ensure the entire planned volume and range of products.
The flatbed cutting machine is equipped with a rigid work table with vacuum clamping, which eliminates displacement and deformation of the material, which can be laid out to be used economically. First, the plotter draws a pattern on the material with a laser, and then an sharp tangential knife cuts out the desired part and punches holes in it, giving it the desired shape. Special knives and cutters guarantee a complete match between the part and the layout. Thanks to automation, the probability of defects is minimized.
