Installation of new equipment has begun at Reftinskaya GRES, which has been in operation for over 55 years. After modernization, its capacity will increase from 300 to 315 MW.

The upgrade is being carried out on the station's first power unit, commissioned in December 1970. In April, it was shut down for major reconstruction with a complete replacement of key equipment.

During the preparation period, specialists dismantled the old turbine, generator, live steam pipelines, and the foundation of the turbogenerator. The project has now moved to the installation phase – a new foundation for the equipment is being created on site, and steam pipelines are being installed.

Instead of the turbine that has reached the end of its service life, the unit will feature a Russian K-315 turbogenerator with a capacity of 315 MW. A new turbogenerator and a modern automated control system based on domestic software will also be installed.

After the work is completed, the power unit will be able to generate more power with more efficient fuel use. The new equipment will increase the station's reliability and allow for faster response to changes in grid load.

Reftinskaya GRES is gradually upgrading its capacities: after the first unit, modernization will continue on power units No. 4 and No. 2. The project will extend the operation of one of the largest coal-fired power facilities in the Urals, built during the Soviet period.
