Russians have been advised to temporarily refrain from any monetary transactions via Telegram. This statement was made by Andrey Svintsov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy. According to the parliamentarian, until official clarifications from Roskomnadzor and the FSB, one should not pay for subscriptions, buy digital goods, or conduct other financial operations within the messenger's ecosystem.

The recommendation came after the FSB announced that Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov was placed on the wanted list in Russia in a case of aiding terrorism.

According to Andrey Svintsov, until an official position from state bodies emerges, citizens should refrain from any financial transactions via Telegram.

Neither paid subscriptions, nor the purchase of TON currencies [from July 1, 2026, the cryptocurrency is called Gram – editor's note of "Pervy Tekhnichesky"] and so on. That is, I do not recommend any operations within the Telegram ecosystem to our citizens.
