A VAZ-2105 with a three-speed General Motors 3L30 automatic transmission has been put up for sale in the USA. The 1985 export sedan Lada Signet has only driven 55 thousand kilometers, and its price – 14 thousand dollars – is comparable to the cost of a new Lada Granta.

Car mechanic Denis Khromov explained to Pravda.Ru that spare parts for the 3L30 automatic transmission can be found, but the mating units with the VAZ engine are unique, and the unit's lifespan directly depends on oil cleanliness. The car, designed for the Canadian market, was additionally equipped with catalytic converters, orange marker lights, and side turn signal repeaters, while the interior received improved sound insulation and higher quality upholstery.

Car expert-damage assessor after an accident Alexander Gromov noted that such cars are evidence of the aggressive export marketing of the USSR, where competition forced local dealers to seriously refine "Zhiguli" for demanding Western buyers. Lawyer Oleg Zorin added that buying such lots is often associated with legal nuances during registration in certain states due to the absence of some modern systems.

Under the Signet brand, the VAZ-2104 station wagon and the luxury VAZ-2107 were also supplied to Canada, but it is the VAZ-2105 with a GM automatic that remains the rarest example. Today, collectors looking for Soviet quality in an atypical package hunt for it.
