Nizhny Novgorod manufacturer "ArmorGroup" has announced the creation of armored modifications for the flagship Volga vehicles, according to "Auto.ru". The C50 sedan and K50 crossover will receive protection. Both vehicles are currently under development, and the company has not yet disclosed the timeline for their appearance or their final price.

The manufacturer's armoring technology is already well-established. Bulletproof protective glass and high-strength, high-alloy steel sheets are used in manufacturing. The finished armored vehicle undergoes ballistic and firing tests. The vehicle's weight significantly increases with the installation of armor – this inevitably affects dynamics and fuel consumption but is the price for BR4 protection class, which can withstand bursts from a Kalashnikov assault rifle using cartridges with a steel heat-strengthened core.

"ArmorGroup" has been operating in the market since 2006 and armors a wide range of vehicles – from the Toyota Land Cruiser 100 to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The cost of such projects typically reaches 27–28 million rubles. Interest in protected versions of Russian models is growing amid the emergence of new players in this segment: in May, the armored Sollers ST9 pickup truck with a similar protection class was presented. The Volga C50 and K50, assembled in Nizhny Novgorod, are a logical continuation of the import substitution trend in the armored business transport niche, where foreign brands had previously dominated unchallenged.
