The "Zircon" hypersonic missile is considered one of the fastest examples of modern weaponry, but its speed can create technical difficulties. Engineer Valery Ageev spoke about this.
According to him, when flying at hypersonic speeds, a plasma cloud forms around the body. It can shield radio signals and hinder the operation of traditional communication and guidance systems.
Due to the high speed and the plasma cloud around the missile, its maneuverability may be limited. This is because sharp changes in course at hypersonic speeds require significant system responsiveness, which is technically difficult to implement.
Also, the "Zircon" onboard radar can only scan a limited area, Ageev added. This makes it difficult to detect small targets like aircraft carriers in the ocean.
Earlier, military analyst Fabian Hinz questioned the perception of "Zircon" as a full-fledged hypersonic missile. He suggested that it is a quasi-ballistic system.
