The new car market in Russia has shifted dramatically: which trim levels became the most popular in 2026

An Avito Auto study showed that crossovers are strengthening their positions, but budget Lada models remain the main market driver

In early 2026, a stable trend towards specific trim levels of new cars sharply emerged in Russia: buyers are increasingly choosing proven engines, simple transmissions, and mid-range equipment versions. These conclusions were presented by the Avito Auto service after analyzing user requests for the first five months of the year.

Lada Granta remains the leader in demand. According to analytics, the maximum interest is focused on the version with a 90-hp 1.6-liter engine and a manual transmission. The modification with a 106-hp engine is considered significantly less often. Among the trim levels, "Standard Plus" with an average price of about 850 thousand rubles and "Classic" for approximately 987 thousand rubles are most often sought after, which emphasizes buyers' focus on the affordable segment.

For the Haval Jolion crossover, the main attention is on front-wheel drive versions with a 1.5-liter engine with 143 hp. Despite the presence of a robotic transmission, the more familiar manual transmission remains in demand. The "Optimum" trim level showed the most noticeable increase in interest, while basic versions are losing popularity.

Among Lada Niva Travel, the updated 1.8-liter engine with 90 hp in combination with all-wheel drive and a manual transmission is more often chosen. Within the model line, "Classic" and "Techno" compete almost equally, while "Drive" maintains stable but less pronounced demand.

In the new Tenet T7 crossover segment, front-wheel drive versions with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 150 hp and a robotic transmission have a noticeable advantage. In terms of trim levels, "Active" confidently leads, significantly outperforming the more expensive "Prime."

For Solaris HC, versions with a 1.6-liter engine with 123 hp, automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive are most in demand. At the same time, more powerful modifications with a 150-hp engine show less interest, and the "Family," "Lifestyle," and "Prime" trim levels stand out in the demand structure.

Overall, the market shows a shift towards practical configurations: buyers are more often choosing balanced versions with predictable technology, avoiding overpaying for top-end executions.
