The production capacity of the Rybinsk ODK-Saturn plant allows for the construction of 30 new PD-8 engines per year. This was announced by the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov.
According to him, the enterprise itself also needs to be certified before being allowed to mass-produce power units.
The capacity, according to our estimates, is 30 power units per year.
If Yadrov's words are taken as a basis, then 30 PD-8 engines will be enough for 15 SJ-100 aircraft annually, without taking into account replacements. This strongly contradicts the plans laid down in the Comprehensive Development Program — up to 36 Superjets per year.
That is, ODK-Saturn will have to expand PD-8 production by more than two times in the future — to at least 72–80 engines annually.
"Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" compared the characteristics of the PD-8 with the American PW1000G from Pratt & Whitney. By the way, the production volumes of this engine are from 600 to 800 units annually, which is 20–27 times more than the PD-8.
