New Customer for Tu-214 and SJ-100 Named, Replacing China's Y-7

Yakutia Plans to Purchase 11 New Airliners

The authorities of Yakutia intend to acquire a whole batch of new import-substituted SJ-100 and Tu-214 aircraft. This was reported by the press service of the northern region's government.

Yakutia expresses interest in acquiring six Tu-214 aircraft and five SJ-100s for delivery between 2027 and 2030.

It should be noted that due to a shortage of its air fleet, Yakutia began to look towards Chinese suppliers. Honored Pilot of the USSR Oleg Smirnov noted that China produces its own versions of the An-2 biplane and the regional An-24.

The publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" explained that there are few suitable aircraft from China for operating on northern routes, and some available models have a questionable reputation for reliability.

For example, a copy of the An-24 with Pratt & Whitney engines is the Xian MA60. They were built in small batches, with about 80 aircraft assembled, of which 5 had crashed by 2020.
