Wildberries turns search into a dialogue: AI assistant will select products for life situations directly in chat

The Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and generative models will become the core of the marketplace's new recommendation system

The Wildberries marketplace is launching an AI assistant that finds products not by keywords, but by the meaning of the query. As RWB head Tatyana Kim told RIA Novosti at SPIEF, the technology works in a chat format: the user formulates a task in simple language and receives a selection directly in the interface.

The system is built on generative language models that the company has been using for a long time, and is now bringing them to the level of direct interaction with the customer. The user can ask to pick a gift for a colleague up to three thousand rubles, find a robot vacuum cleaner for an apartment with animals, or assemble a kit for a trip with a child. The AI processes the request, provides relevant products in the chat, after which they can be compared, discussed, and conditions clarified.

The entry point to the assistant is in the Wildberries search results. The platform plans to analyze user experience and expand the scenarios for the AI assistant. In fact, the marketplace replaces the traditional filter with checkboxes with a dialog interface, which lowers the entry threshold for an unprepared user and turns search from a navigation function into a service function.

Wildberries launched a new "Smart Comparison" feature in test mode. The feature became one of the implementations of the future AI assistant.
