The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser (TARK) "Admiral Nakhimov" of Project 1144.2M "Orlan" has begun sea trials from the docks of the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk. Photographer Oleg Kuleshov showed the first shots of the warship after modernization.
Recall that in 1999, the cruiser was put in for repair and modernization, which began in 2013. In fact, the repair of the "Nakhimov" took 27 years.
The modernized ship will receive ten universal shipborne firing systems, each accommodating eight "Kalibr-NK" or "Onyx" cruise missiles.
Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev noted that the "Admiral Nakhimov" will soon return to service, but did not specify exact dates.
Western journalists have already called the "Admiral Nakhimov" the most dangerous cruiser in the world due to its powerful armament.
