The Russian Project 11442M "Orlan" cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" is currently considered the most heavily armed surface warship in the world. Hypersonic missiles pose an unprecedented threat, reported the National Security Journal.
Weapons analyst Chris Osborne recalled that during modernization, the "Nakhimov" will receive advanced S-300 "Fort-M" type anti-aircraft missile systems, missiles for striking ground targets, new anti-submarine weapons, and close-range defense systems.
In fact, it can claim to be the most heavily armed surface ship on Earth.
The "Admiral Nakhimov" was commissioned in 1988. In 1999, the cruiser was put in for repair and modernization, but work only began in 2013. Nikolai Patrushev, head of the Maritime Board, promised that the ship would return to service, but did not specify exact dates.
A few days ago, it became known that the "Nakhimov" began to move in the waters of the plant in Severodvinsk. This likely refers to sea trials.
