The Kalashnikov Concern has begun deliveries of the new SKAT 220 unmanned aerial vehicle. The development is an evolution of the SKAT 350 M platform, but features a more compact design and improved speed characteristics.
The new aircraft has a wingspan of 2.2 meters and a weight of 12 kilograms. Thanks to its reduced dimensions and weight, the drone can accelerate up to 160 km/h, which distinguishes it among similar class devices.
The SKAT 220 is equipped with an electric motor and can stay in the air for more than 150 minutes. Launch is carried out from a catapult, and landing is performed using a parachute system. The developer also notes the high reliability and resistance of the device to intensive operation.
The new drone is designed for a wide range of civilian tasks. It is planned to be used for object protection, security, environmental monitoring, agricultural work, as well as monitoring of fuel and energy complex facilities, transport infrastructure, and power lines.
