The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" of Project 1144.2M "Orlan" began maneuvering in the waters of the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk. This was reported by Military Russia, citing foreign sources.
Researchers discovered from satellite images that the warship was moving away from the pier. This likely refers to the resumption of sea trials with missile or torpedo firings. This is the first recorded movement of the "Nakhimov" in 2026.
Recall that in 1999, the cruiser was put in for repair and modernization, which began in 2013.
The modernized "Admiral Nakhimov" will receive ten universal shipborne firing systems, each accommodating eight "Kalibr-NK" or "Onyx" cruise missiles.
Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, noted that the "Admiral Nakhimov" will soon return to service, but did not specify exact dates.
