Virtual VVER-1200 power unit launched in Tomsk: an exact replica of the unit control panel will teach students how to handle accidents at nuclear power plants

The model reproduces abnormal and emergency modes in real time

Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) has commissioned a VVER-1200 power unit simulator. According to the university's press service, the software and hardware complex is a simulation of a truncated operating model of a real unit control panel. It is equipped with a comprehensive all-mode mathematical model of the power unit, operating in real time.

The simulator allows reproducing a wide range of operating modes, including abnormal and emergency situations. To enhance visualization and learning effectiveness, 3D models and interactive elements are used. The complex was developed by the Engineering and Technical Center "Dzhet".

The equipment is aimed at both students and advanced training for employees in nuclear and thermal energy. VVER-1200 is one of the most modern and safest reactors, operated at the Leningrad and Novovoronezh NPPs, as well as abroad. The simulator allows training personnel without interrupting production and without risk to real equipment.
