Rosatom brings new generation nuclear technologies to China

Russia to present future reactors and closed nuclear fuel cycle in Beijing

The IAEA FR26 international conference, dedicated to fast reactors and advanced nuclear fuel cycles, is taking place in Beijing from May 18 to 21. Rosatom will be one of the key participants in the forum, presenting Russian IV generation nuclear energy technologies.

The Russian delegation will deliver reports on the development of fast neutron reactors and closed nuclear fuel cycle projects. Representatives of the "Proryv" project direction, as well as executives responsible for the development of new nuclear energy products, will participate in the conference.

At the exhibition, Rosatom will showcase a multimedia model of a two-component IV generation nuclear energy system. A separate section of the exposition will be dedicated to cooperation between Russia and China in the field of fast reactors and nuclear fuel reprocessing technologies.

The state corporation believes that the transition to a closed fuel cycle will reduce the volume of accumulated spent fuel, increase the efficiency of uranium utilization, and improve the environmental performance of nuclear energy.

Currently, Russia continues preparations for the construction of the BN-1200M power unit at the Beloyarsk NPP. Simultaneously, an experimental demonstration complex with a BREST-OD-300 reactor and an on-site closed fuel cycle using mixed uranium-plutonium nitride fuel is being created in the Tomsk region.
