Many perceive modern neural networks as interlocutors with their own communication style and character

Russians increasingly perceive neural networks not just as soulless services, but as interlocutors with their own communication style, character, and sense of humor. At the same time, it is important for the majority that AI understands the Russian cultural context. This is stated in a study by the NAFI Analytical Center.

According to the survey, 82% of Russians consider it important for modern neural networks to take into account the peculiarities of Russian culture, language, and national context. NAFI explains that this refers to understanding the values, attitudes, speech patterns, symbols, and archetypes characteristic of the country.

Another 71% of study participants stated that neural networks should recognize local humor, stable expressions, and historical references.

Among the services that are best oriented in the Russian cultural context, respondents most often named Alisa AI — this option was chosen by 71% of respondents. DeepSeek and GigaChat received 37% of votes each, while ChatGPT was noted by 34% of study participants.

The study also showed that 87% of respondents have experience using neural network services. The most recognizable AI assistant was Alisa AI — 88% of study participants know about it. ChatGPT follows with 70% and GigaChat with 57%.

More than a third of respondents are also familiar with the services Shedevrum, DeepSeek, and Gemini.

Most often, Russians use neural networks to search for new information and help with studies — 47% of respondents answered this way. Another 41% use AI to solve everyday problems, 36% for entertainment and leisure, 35% for creativity and hobbies, the same number for searching for goods and services, and 33% for professional activities.
