Collision in Nakhodka Port: Tanker "Achilles" Rams Drilling Vessel "Geolog Kulikov"

The collision resulted in deformation of anchor equipment with no environmental consequences

In the seaport of Nakhodka, the tanker "Achilles" collided with the drilling vessel "Geolog Kulikov" while approaching a repair berth. The incident occurred on May 17 during mooring operations. According to the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office, the "Geolog Kulikov" sustained deformation of its anchor hawse pipe frame – a structural element through which the anchor chain passes.

No crew members were injured, and no oil spills were recorded. The extent of material damage is currently being assessed by specialists. The prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation: inspectors are evaluating compliance with maritime navigation, towing, and pilotage rules during the tanker's berthing. If violations are identified during the investigation, the supervisory authority will take responsive measures.

The tanker "Achilles" arrived in Nakhodka for scheduled repairs. The drilling vessel "Geolog Kulikov" was at anchor in the port's waters. The circumstances of the maneuver that led to the vessels' contact are being clarified as part of the procedural review.
