The base minesweepers "Novocheboksarsk" and "Pavel Khenov" (Project 12650) conducted scheduled ship exercises at the basing point of the surface forces of the Leningrad Naval Base. This was reported by the press service of the Baltic Fleet.
The sailors practiced air defense, as well as actions in case of radiation and chemical contamination. In addition, they met the standards for servicing weapons and equipment at combat posts.
In the near future, "Novocheboksarsk" and "Pavel Khenov", as part of a group of minesweepers, will go to the naval training grounds of the Baltic Fleet. There, the crews of special-purpose ships will provide anti-mine support to other vessels.

Project 12650 ships are equipped with the KIU-1 marine mine hunter-destroyer. The system was developed in the early 1970s for the needs of the USSR Navy. The technical device works in tandem with contact trawls of the GKT-2 and AT-6 types. Some minesweepers are equipped with modernized versions of the seeker — KIU-2, KIU-2-2M.
