Engines of Tu-160 "strategists" will stop flying and become mobile power plants

ODK proposed using NK-37 technologies for regional energy supply

Russia is considering the possibility of creating mobile gas turbine power plants based on NK-37 family aviation technologies. This was reported by the United Engine Corporation.

This refers to rapidly deployable power units with a capacity of 25 and 32 MW, which can be launched in a short time. They can operate on both natural gas and diesel fuel.

We are ready to offer the market a solution based on the NK-37 engine to form a federal mobile power reserve.
Andrey Vorobyov, General Director of ODK-Engineering

The main advantage of the project is the speed of deployment. While the construction of traditional power plants takes up to 180 days, the modular system is planned to be put into operation in approximately 60 days.

Recall that NK-37 was created based on the NK-32 aircraft engine, which is installed on the Tu-160 "White Swan" strategic bomber-missile carrier.

ODK-Kuznetsov designers took a highly efficient aircraft gas generator as a basis and supplemented it with a free power turbine to drive the generator.
