The number of Tu-160 strategic bombers, upgraded to the Tu-160M level, in the Russian Aerospace Forces has increased to six. A photo of the missile carrier "Pyotr Deynekin" was published by a retired military pilot under the nickname Fighterbomber, as noted by the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).
The aircraft with serial number 8-04 became the last Tu-160 completed at the Kazan Aviation Plant from the Soviet inventory. After that, the aircraft underwent several years of refinement and modernization to the Tu-160M level.
Since 2020, the missile carrier has been at the Kazan Aviation Plant, where it received updated systems, modern electronics, and an extended service life.
The Russian Aerospace Forces have at least 20 Tu-160 bombers as of the end of 2025, according to foreign sources.
In late December 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced the delivery of two "White Swans" to the military.
