The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned of a new fraud scheme related to "easy money" through server rental. Users receive offers to buy supposedly cheap VPS servers, which are then promised to be connected to mining or calculations for neural networks.
The scheme operates through Telegram bots. After purchasing a "server," the person is offered to transfer access to another bot, which will allegedly use the capacities to earn money. The advertisement promises an income of 50 to 100 thousand rubles per month, instant payouts to a card or in cryptocurrency, and a complete absence of risks.
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that there is no real income behind such offers. Users' money simply goes to the organizers of the scheme, and all demonstrations of "income" are limited to screenshots and the bot's interface.
In one such service, before purchasing non-existent capacities, users are also offered to top up their balance in advance for "stable payment." The department called this a classic sign of fraud.
