Scammers have started using a new fraud scheme involving "paid surveys" allegedly from banks. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The scheme works as follows: offers appear online to take a short survey for a monetary reward. The user is promised a payment on behalf of the bank after filling out a questionnaire.
The person clicks on the link, answers the questions, and then sees a form for "crediting money." It asks for bank card details and a confirmation code from an SMS.
In reality, these details are immediately obtained by scammers. After this, they can gain access to the account linked to the card and withdraw money.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds that banks do not ask for CVV codes and SMS confirmations on third-party websites for participation in surveys or receiving bonuses. Users are advised to check information about promotions only through official bank applications and websites.
