A detachment of Pacific Fleet ships has completed a long-range voyage to the Asia-Pacific region and returned to Vladivostok. The group included the diesel-electric submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy", the corvette "Gromkiy", and the sea tug "Andrey Stepanov".
The ships departed from their base in early March and covered approximately 9,000 nautical miles during the voyage, passing through seven seas and four straits. The route program included business calls to the port of Jakarta (Indonesia) and the port of Qingdao (China). During the visits, the crews held protocol meetings, sports competitions, and cultural events, and also participated in experience exchange conferences with colleagues from the navies of China and Indonesia.
The corvette "Gromkiy" was built according to Project 20380 by the Almaz Design Bureau at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant; both enterprises are part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The ship performs tasks in the near-sea zone: detecting and destroying enemy submarines and surface targets, and ensuring amphibious landings.
The submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy" was launched in 2019 at the Admiralty Shipyards enterprise (also part of USC) under Project 636.3, developed by the Rubin Design Bureau. Submarines of this series are distinguished by increased acoustic stealth, extended target detection range, and powerful torpedo and missile armament. The main strike complex is the high-precision Kalibr cruise missiles.
The return of the detachment to Vladivostok completed the planned stage of the USC ships' long-range deployment.
