Russian Ministry of Health connects neural networks to medicine: AI will help doctors with documentation

The technology will be able to analyze patient medical records in seconds and highlight key data for staff

The Russian Ministry of Health has begun implementing artificial intelligence technologies that should reduce the amount of paperwork for medical professionals. This was announced by the head of the department, Mikhail Murashko.

According to him, a system capable of analyzing a patient's electronic medical record in a few seconds and automatically highlighting information urgently needed by a doctor, nurse, or emergency department staff is already being tested in Russian medical institutions.

In addition, other AI tools are gradually being introduced into medical practice — speech recognition and transcription, as well as automatic information summarization. All this should speed up work with documents and reduce the burden on staff.

Murashko noted that such solutions are already actively being used in the healthcare system.

Earlier, the minister also reported that a domestic robotic surgical unit had been registered in Russia.
