354 tons per day: Rosneft engineers made a low-permeability reservoir yield 5 times more oil than usual

The implementation of new advanced drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies ensured record production at the Priobskoye field

A new horizontal well at the Priobskoye field demonstrated impressive performance – 354 tons of oil daily. This result was made possible by the implementation of advanced drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies. The project was carried out by the RN-Yuganskneftegaz team (part of Rosneft).

In the first quarter of 2026, the team of specialists completed a pilot series of 13 high-tech wells. Innovative solutions, previously not used in Russian practice, were tested on them. In particular, a 30-stage cluster hydraulic fracturing with proppant injection of 9 thousand tons, high-rate hydraulic fracturing with low-viscosity fluid in 60-120 stages, and the creation of a system of multiple fractures to improve reservoir filtration properties were used.

The result is a fivefold increase in production compared to standard horizontal wells. One new well now yields up to 60 thousand tons of oil per year. This is the best indicator for new facilities at the Priobskoye field in the last decade.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz noted that joint work with corporate service and scientific divisions will continue. The goal is to scale the successful experience to other areas with low-permeability reservoirs and increase the profitability of developing hard-to-recover reserves.
