During the broadcast of the parade on Red Square, viewers were shown the Peresvet combat laser system. The equipment itself did not pass over the cobblestones but was presented in a video segment broadcast on large screens.
Peresvet is designed to counter enemy reconnaissance systems. It blinds the optoelectronic devices of satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, and aircraft.
The system was adopted in 2018, is serially supplied to the troops, and is used to cover the positions of the Strategic Missile Forces.
The main characteristics of the system are: a range of 65 to 90 kilometers, and a coverage area of up to 180 kilometers in circumference. The power of the laser radiation is not disclosed, but it is known that it can hit targets at an altitude of 200 to 1100 kilometers. Peresvet is mounted on a wheeled chassis, which makes it mobile.
