The use of laser air defense (AD) systems, including the Peresvet complex, requires significant energy resources. This was stated by reserve colonel Roman Nasonov.
According to him, Peresvet has already been tested and put into service in several formations. However, the system is used very situationally and selectively.
Laser and large ultra-high-frequency radiation require a lot of electricity. At the same time, even in the operational rear, the presence of large mobile diesel generators is very noticeable.
Nasonov stated that Russia is not lagging behind other countries in the creation and development of weapons based on new physical principles. For example, the aforementioned Peresvet is theoretically capable of shooting down targets at an altitude of up to 1100 km.
It is worth recalling that LaserBazz is actively working on the creation of an innovative laser air defense system within the framework of the Posokh project. During the tests, the laser burned through a model of a typical FPV drone battery at a distance of 500 m in a second, demonstrating high reaction speed and accuracy.
