300,000 people for one aircraft: Alikhanov revealed the true scale of Russian aircraft manufacturing

The minister cited aircraft tires as an example of the complexity of manufacturing components for modern airliners

More than 300,000 people are required to produce one modern aircraft. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Anton Alikhanov.

According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aircraft manufacturing unites a huge number of specialists and industries, and the creation of even individual components requires complex engineering and scientific work.

The minister explained that an aircraft cannot be viewed only as a finished machine. Each element has a separate cycle of development, testing, and production. As an example, he cited aircraft tires, which must withstand extreme loads during takeoff and landing.

According to him, to create such a tire, it is necessary to develop a steel cord from scratch, as well as select a special rubber compound. After that, prototypes undergo long bench tests.

The manufactured prototypes must undergo a significant cycle of tests on the stand. And now we have only talked about the tire. Imagine if we talk about the entire aircraft.

The minister emphasized that aircraft production involves the work of engineers, metallurgists, chemists, designers, and specialists from dozens of related industries.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said when Russian factories will start transferring aircraft to airlines. According to him, the airliners will be delivered to carriers one to two months after receiving the documents. The minister also stated that Russia remains a world leader in the heavy helicopter segment.
