The new S-71K missile enhances the capabilities of Russian tactical aviation by reducing its visibility and increasing the accuracy of engagement. The munition is made of composite materials, which reduces its radar signature, and its shape allows it to be placed inside a fighter jet, explained military expert and air defense forces historian Yuri Knutov.
According to him, the key advantage of the S-71K is its accuracy and ability to engage priority targets. This includes headquarters, air defense systems, and command posts. Moreover, not only Su-57s but also Su-35s and Su-30s can act as carriers.

Knutov explained that some versions of the missile receive machine vision elements. The target image is pre-loaded into the system, after which the munition finds it independently and attacks the most vulnerable point.
This approach is already being used in "Geran" and "Lancet" drones, which confirms the transition to more autonomous engagement systems, the expert emphasized.
