New S-71 "Kover" Missile for Su-57 Will Be Invulnerable to EW

Military expert Dzherelievsky: trapezoidal body section will ensure radar stealth

The arsenal of the Su-57 fighter has been supplemented with a new cruise missile, the S-71 "Kover". According to military expert Boris Dzherelievsky, its design and guidance system increase its resistance to electronic warfare systems.

The missile body is made of fiberglass, and some internal elements are made of aluminum alloys. The trapezoidal section reduces radar visibility, making it difficult for air defense systems to detect the target.

Folding swept wings allow the missile to be placed not only on external hardpoints but also in the aircraft's bomb bay, which reduces the visibility of the carrier as well.

The S-71 missile uses inertial navigation, which is independent of external signals, increasing its resistance to electronic jamming, Dzherelievsky added. The warhead used is an OFAB-250 high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb, located in the nose section.
