In the case of supplying equipment for the state defense order from China, the theft of more than 213 million rubles has been revealed. According to the investigation, the former Deputy Director for Procurement and Logistics of the Kalashnikov Concern, Sergey Belyakov, could have been involved in this scheme.
He has been charged with large-scale fraud. Investigators believe that the funds were stolen during the procurement of tactical vests from Chinese suppliers under state contracts.
Belyakov is currently under arrest in a Moscow pre-trial detention center. Earlier, the court upheld the extension of the pre-trial detention. The defendant does not admit guilt and claims that the terms of contracts with suppliers from China were economically justified.
The investigation is nearing completion, key witnesses have been interrogated, and the results of expert examinations are awaited. One of the participants in the investigation has been declared wanted.
This is not the first criminal case related to former employees of the concern. Earlier, an investigation was completed against the former director of procurement and logistics, who was accused of abuse of power in the execution of the state defense order.
The defendants in these cases could face up to ten years in prison.
