28.5 Meters of Power: New Project 16609 Tug Laid Down at St. Petersburg Shipyard

The vessel will operate in ports, roadsteads, and coastal areas

At the production site of the shipbuilding enterprise "Intro-Pella" in Otradnoye, Leningrad Region, the keel-laying ceremony for a Project 16609 tugboat took place. Technical supervision of the construction is carried out by specialists from the Baltic Branch of the Russian Classification Society (RS).

The new tug is designed for towing and maneuvering operations in ports, roadsteads, and coastal areas corresponding to navigation area R3. The vessel will also be able to participate in salvage operations for grounded vessels.

Main characteristics: length – 28.5 meters, width – 9.5 meters, board height – 4.8 meters, draft – 3.5 meters. The vessel will assist in mooring and unmooring, turning vessels in confined spaces, towing them to docks for repairs, and bringing them to clear water in case of engine failure. In addition, tugboats participate in rescue operations, salvaging grounded ships.
