Russia has almost completely replaced imported synthetic rubber – the share of foreign products has decreased to a minimum of 2-3%. Now, the focus is on completing a process that directly affects tire production and the sustainability of the entire industry. Pavel Lyakhovich, a member of the board and executive director of Sibur, revealed the details.
According to him, import substitution efforts in this segment are progressing successfully and are nearing completion.
Concurrently, Russia continues to reduce its dependence on natural rubber. Sibur has developed several dozen formulations for tire production that allow for the replacement of a significant portion of this raw material with a synthetic analogue. As Lyakhovich noted, such solutions can reduce the consumption of natural rubber in the country by 70-75%.
Sibur operates in the gas processing and petrochemical sectors. It unites production sites in various regions of Russia and supplies products for the fuel and energy complex, automotive industry, construction, production of everyday goods, chemical, and other industries.
