Russia to break into the top 5 global aircraft industry while MC-21 and SJ-100 are stifled by certification

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has bet on full localization of the industry

Russia plans to enter the ranks of leading aircraft manufacturers and secure a place in the top 5 of the global market. These plans were announced by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov.

According to him, the key task of the industry is not only to ensure technological sovereignty but also to reach the level of global leadership.

We aim to enter the top 5 manufacturers of modern nomenclature in the aviation industry.

Currently, the industry is solving the problem of full localization of civil aviation equipment. In particular, more than 70 systems have been developed for the MC-21, and about 40 systems and over 1,500 components for the SJ-100.

It should be noted that both aircraft have not yet taken to the skies and are still undergoing certification, which has been repeatedly called excessive.

Economist Dmitry Tortev also stated that the endlessly prolonged cycle of "testing – refinements – new certification" has become the main brake on the aviation industry.
